You might not know but I am planning to go the Colorado School of Mines. I want to become either a Mechanical Engineer or an Alternative Fuels Engineer. Currently, I am applying for the Roosevelt High School Alumni Association Scholarship, and I would greatly appreciate a letter of recommendation from you. I have taken both freshman Science classes with you, and I am currently one of your astronomy students. I think you know the quality of my academic work, my ethical and moral values, and how well I could perform in both the academic field and the work force.
As my science instructor, you have a personal account of my work ethic and study habits. Your focus on lateral thinking in both of my classes has helped me prepare for college course structure, as well as the intellectually demanding field of engineering. I am coming to you because both scholarships and the actual college application will ask for letters of recommendation.
